lǔ wáng yǎng niǎo
有一隻迷路的海鷗,從海上飛到內路,來到魯國都城的郊外。獵人捉到了,把它獻給國王。
yǒuyī zhǐ mílù dì hǎi'ōu, cóng hǎishàng fēi dào nèi lù, lái dào lǔ guó dūchéng de jiāowài. Lièrén zhuō dàole, bǎ tā xiàn gěi guówáng.
魯王看見這隻少見的鳥,飛常喜愛。親自駕車,把它送到一棟華麗的宮殿中,用黃金和玉石製成籠子,做為鳥的房子,派兩個僕人來照料它,每天讓他聽最好聽的音樂,吃最肥美的肉,喝最甘醇的酒,用照顧王子的法來照顧它。
lǔ wáng kànjiàn zhè zhǐ shǎojiàn de niǎo, fēi cháng xǐ'ài. Qīnzì jiàchē, bǎ tā sòng dào yī dòng huálì de gōngdiàn zhōng, yòng huángjīn hé yùshí zhì chéng lóngzi, zuò wèi niǎo de fángzi, pài liǎng gè púrén lái zhàoliào tā, měitiān ràng tā tīng zuì hǎo tīng de yīnyuè, chī zuì féiměi de ròu, hē zuì gān chún de jiǔ, yòng zhàogù wángzǐ de fǎ lái zhàogù tā.
可是這隻海鷗,每天用頭、用嘴叩打籠子,亂跳亂叫,眼睛裡充滿了悲愁,連一塊肉也不吃,連一滴水也不喝,過了三天便死了。

親愛的讀者,你養過鳥嗎?不同的鳥要用不同的方法去飼養。海鳥的天性是自由飛翔,有自己的生活習慣,魯王用照顧王子的方法來照顧海鷗,可以嗎? 海鳥不吃人的食物,再加上失去自由,當然會死。我們做人做事是不是常拿自己的標準去要求別人呢? 那是不對的。讓別人順著自已的個性習慣去生活,才不會像魯王一樣害了海鷗。
qīn'ài de dúzhě, nǐ yǎngguò niǎo ma? Bùtóng de niǎo yào yòng bùtóng de fāngfǎ qù sìyǎng. Hǎi niǎo de tiānxìng shì zìyóu fēixiáng, yǒu zìjǐ de shēnghuó xíguàn, lǔ wáng yòng zhàogù wángzǐ de fāngfǎ lái zhàogù hǎi'ōu, kěyǐ ma? Hǎi niǎo bù chī rén de shíwù, zài jiā shàng shīqù zìyóu, dāngrán huì sǐ. Wǒmen zuòrén zuòshì shì bùshì cháng ná zìjǐ de biāozhǔn qù yāoqiú biérén ne? Nà shì bùduì de. Ràng biérén shùnzhe zìyǐ de gèxìng xíguàn qù shēnghuó, cái bù huì xiàng lǔ wáng yīyàng hàile hǎi'ōu.

鲁王养鸟

亲爱的读者,你养过鸟吗?不同的鸟要用不同的方法去饲养。海鸟的天性是自由飞翔,有自己的生活习惯,鲁王用照顾王子的方法来照顾海鸥,可以吗? 海鸟不吃人的食物,再加上失去自由,当然会死。我们做人做事是不是常拿自己的标准去要求别人呢? 那是不对的。让别人顺着自已的个性习惯去生活,才不会像鲁王一样害了海鸥。

The Kin of Lu Raises a Bird
There was a seagull who lost his way and flew from the ocean to the land. When it arrived on the outskirts of the Kingdom of Lu, a hunter captured it and sent it as an offering to the King.
When the King of Lu saw the bird, he liked it a great deal. He personally drove a carriage and took the bird to a luxurious castle, where a cage made of gold and jade served as the bird’s house. He arranged for two servants to look after it, to allow it to listen to the most beautiful music, eat the most delicious meat and drink the purest wine. They were to take care of it as they would take care of a prince.
But every day the seagull banged its head and beak against the cage, wildly jumping and screeching, its eyes full of grief. It did not eat a bite of the meat and did not drink a drop of the water. After three days it died.
Moral:
My dear reader, have you ever raised a bird before? Different birds must be raised in different ways. It is the seagull’s nature to fly freely and have his own way of life. Is it right to look after a seagull as you would look after a prince? A seagull does not eat a man’s food, and if you add to that the loss of his freedom, of course it will die. When we do things, do we often demands of other people based on our own standards? That is the wrong ting to do. Only by allowing others to live according to their own individual customs can we avoid being like the King of Lu, who harmed the seagull.
